AmStar
Introduction
AmStar Surface Technology specializes in the development and application of high velocity (HVCC) thermal Spray coatings. HVCC coating applications prevent wear and corrosion or plant process equipment and components. We distinguish ourselves by pioneering coating materials and advanced application methods. AmStar mobilizes across the United States and abroad. Our new facility in Houston, Texas, were completed in 2007, complimenting our field services and providing capacity for larger shop applications.
AmStar's technology division researches, tests and develops coatings. We understand your operational and maintenance challenges when high temperature process conditions result in erosion, wear or corrosion. Our technology departments are available to analyze operating environments and provide specifications or coating materials. Partnering with you, our application solutions focuses on your production schedule and project completion during critical path downtime. AmStar's ability to plan, mobilize and complete the job on time and on budget are what sets us separate.
In the field or in our shop, full time AmStar certified technicians perform coating applications. Our project managers ensure compliance with the local safety standards, and are your site liaison for our quality assurance program.
Unplanned outages and downtime cost millions or dollars. Thermal cladding can be your justified alternative to more expensive options.
Facilities
AmStar Surface Technology completed construction on our corporate office, warehouse and extensive shop facility in Houston, Texas in 2007. Our five-acre site includes concerning 40.000 square feet under roof and provides a permanent home for our laboratory, training facilities, and various automation systems. This expansion has allowed US to accommodate a growing demand for shop production to complement our field services.
In addition to our United States headquarters in Houston, AmStar also has joint ventures and agents in Canada, Europe (Amstar-Europe), India, Kazakhstan, and South Africa.
Applications
AmStar thermal cladding technology are currently installed in the Power, Pulp & paper, Petrochemical and Waste to Energy industries.
Proprietary material compositions and conveyance methods allow for protection in difficult high temperature corrosion and erosion environments. The design or our equipment and our ability to mobilize quickly enable us to address needs with the client facility (in-situ). For example, AmStar applied 26.000 sq. ft. or cladding onto panels in the shop, then mobilized to the client site to tie in the weld joint and to apply an additional 3000 sq. ft. or cladding onto existing tubes in the Unit. This eliminated the need for replacement or all tube panels.
Applications may include slopes, water walls, arches, super heater or re-heater sections, economizers and transition areas. Also utilizing new cladding technology are Black Liquor Recovery boilers (BLRB), Pulping Vessels or the paper industry, as well ash the highly corrosive and erosive conditions or Waste-to-Energy boilers.
AmStar provides the shop cladding services at our facility in Houston, Texas. In addition to tube of platens, grip tangent tubes and other tube applications, our shop applications include pumps, melt spouts, and other plant process equipment.
Research and development
AmStar has adopted a turnkey approach to materials development, conveyance technology and application methods for thermal cladding. Strategic partnerships with materials manufacturers Special Metals, (Inco Alloys) and Devasco international provide AmStar with direct participation in the development or material compositions. For example, the recently patented AmS 888 material were developed concerning a three-year period in our groups collaborative R&D effort.
Amstar patented formulas provide cladding materials available exclusively with our High Velocity Continuous Combustion (HVCC) Spray technology. AmStar director or Technology, Dr. Michael Seitz, originally invented HVCC technology. This high velocity technology ensures cladding with a homogenous microstructure providing optimal corrosion and erosion properties.
Concept to completion summarizes AmStar approach to surface technology. It would be possible to follow the industry recent developments for material composition and application equipment however, we believe accountability for the formulation, application and performance or our product rest securely in our hands.
